Big Sur and the Bay!

Hey everyone! So, we made it to Oakland just now. Unfortunately, my camera broke way back in Montana de Oro, so we will be lacking photos for a bit. But let me tell you---the trip has been awesome!

We wrapped up Montana de Oro park with lots of hiking in on a wonderful trail, sunset gazing, then we got up the next day, drove a bit north, had smoked salmon tacos and a torta for lunch, then drove a REALLY scenic part of highway 1. We stopped and saw the COOLEST group of Elephant Seals...so rad. Then kept driving and landed in....the little shop of horrors! Seriously, it was the WORST campground...called Phiffer Big Sur or something...seriously like being at the mall, only trapped in a campground. When we were cooking dinner, I could seriously observe like 12 other groups cooking at the same time...too much to handle. And there was a boy scout troop next door. Several boys were getting in trouble by the scout master due to lying...we know at least one of them was! ;( Then the showers....super scary. So anyway, we left there ASAP the next day and found Andrew Molera State Park...just wonderful, camped there two nights. We hiked several amazing hikes---probably around 9 miles each day. Had some simple, great meals and relaxed. The weather was great. Some fog but also sun.

ALSO, today we stopped at the coolest Reserve, called Los Lobos Point...south of Monterrey. Just great views.

Now we're in the Bay area enjoying new years with friends, then checking out some of the city before heading further North.

So, since we don't have our own photos, here's some of where we were (off the internet) so you get the "picture"....

Santa Barbara Mission

Montana de Oro State Park near Morro Bay/San Luis Obispo

So we're still having a wonderful time. From Malibu, we were planning on staying on some beaches near Santa Barbara, but we decided to instead head more north to the Morro Bay area. The Montana de Oro State Park was amazing---we did many hikes on the beach, the the forest and in the hills. Highlights included seeing Monarch Butterflies, Quail, Seagulls, and more. The landscape is simply breath taking so we're feeling really fortunate. More to come.

Oh, and we have a Camry count going! We've counted over 30 camrys so far....stay tuned for more.

Malibu Xmas!

Then we made it to Malibu. What more can we say....beaches, warm breezes, wonderful camping in the Santa Monica Mountains. Awesome hikes with hills, beach and big houses galore. On Christmas day we strolled through a neighborhood and observed the fancy houses with xmas carnage. It was great! More to come.

Mojave Winter Fresh

So we made it Joshua Tree Nat'l Park. So beautiful. It was cold, but we had a great time hiking. We ate most meals in the car, since it was cold. But, really great! Then we treated ourselves to a mineral hot springs bath upon completing our stay---so refreshing!

Another adventure....

Hey everyone! So a few years went by. I began and recently completed grad school---yeah, master of public health! Chris has been super busy working with the seriously mentally ill, gardening like a fiend, and brewing among other awesome activities.

Now, we're moving away from Tucson, headed to the NW to try a new life up there. We will bring this blog back to life once in a while to share our journey.

Here's a few photos from our recent wrap-up events in Tucson, including staying at a fancy resort in the Tucson Mountains, going to the Titan Missile Museum with my parents who were in town, and showing off our temporary dining room table as we pack up all of our belongings.
